The Seabird Island Indian Band has worked as part of the Oregon Spotted Frog Recovery Team to preserve the Oregon Spotted frog and its habitat. In 2001, as part of the preservation process, a new breeding pond for the Oregon Spotted frog was created beside a spawning channel which was being built for the threatened Chinook salmon. Where gravel and sediment were removed to create dikes for the salmon spawning channel, a shallow pond was created for the frogs.
